SPECIAL PROJECTS

"204"

Restoring the fire departments first fire engine/pumper, a 1942 Oren.

1942 Oren pumperThis Pumper had its origins in Acadia National Park, where it was used by the rangers as a forestry truck. It responded to The Great Fires of 1947, an event that decimated the MDI community, destroying over 200 resident homes.

When the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1958, this pumper was the first fire truck purchased, and served the crew well.

Over the years, 204 has undergone several upgrades, including the installation of a generator and a cascade system to fill air packs for breathing apparatus. This truck played a vital role in responding to the 1989 fire at The Jackson Laboratory, when it provided lights on the scene for emergency management crews.
In recent times, 204 has shown a bit of wear and tear.

This truck currently needs a total refurbishment; including brakes, body work, and pump restoration. Please help us in our efforts to preserve this mainstay of the community and restore it to its original beauty. Your donation, no matter how small, is essential to help us achieve our goal.
