Our History

The Trenton Volunteer Fire Department was officially incorporated in 1959, not long after the sobering events of the Great Fire. We originally operated out of a garage on Salty Sand Road and our first apparatus was an old army truck moved from Bar Harbor after the Great Fire. Our second was Tanker 202, built in-house. We moved to our current location at the old schoolhouse in 1978 when the new elementary school was built.

We have a small museum at the firehouse with antique trucks and artifacts from different eras of our department. Come look around during one of our pancake breakfasts or ask a member to bring you through.
